Phalaenopsis is a genus of approximately 60 species of orchids.
They normally grow in Southeast Asia; from the Himalayan Mountains to Northern Australia.
The Phalaenopsis orchids can grow up to a height of one meter (40 inches). The flowers are large and almost round.
The color of the flower does normally have a rose or white tint.
Taking care of Phalaenopsis orchids
It is a little easier to take care of the Phalaenopsis orchid than the Cymbidium orchid.
The best temperature is 20 to 35 °C (68 to 95 °F), but can grow in lower temperatures.
If the temperature is lower than 18 °C (64 °F) it is important not to overwater the plant. If the roots get to much water, they will rotten.
The humidity has to be 60 % to 70 % and the light has to be low (12,000 to 20,000 lux).
So if it sounds complicated, there is another option: silk Phalaenopsis orchids. They are not so sensitive to temperature, humidity and light. And no watering is necessary; just a little dusting once in a while.
You can find a lot of different Phalaenopsis orchids on the Internet.
